The Makana 100 is a fishing kayak equipped with the type of propulsion system that until recently was only found in Hobie kayaks. The manufacturer VIBE has named its extremely efficient drive “X-drive”.
The main difference with the prevailing propeller mechanisms on the market is that to drive the Makana with X-drive, the legs perform movements like on a stepper, not like riding a bike. In fact, VIBE also offers a propeller drive for the Makana 100 that replaces the X-drive. The main idea of pedal propulsion is that the hands are free to fish while the kayak is in motion.
The Makana 100 is a very maneuverable and compact kayak, 305 cm long. It is extremely stable and allows you to fish standing up without having the unpleasant feeling of constantly having to keep your balance.
The weight of 35 kg is together with the drive and the seat. Since they are carried separately, the kayak itself becomes light enough to be loaded, unloaded and carried by a single person.
The kayak is equipped with a rudder and a steering system that is controlled by hand. The equipment also includes:
