According to the manufacturer, the Akiak is the world’s first paddle with ProTek interchangeable protectors.
What is characteristic of the Akiak is that there are no “shoulders”. The overflow between the loom and the blades is so smooth that it does not limit the width of your grip.
The assembly of the two parts of the carbon Greenland paddle is perfect: without any play.
The Akiak has a slightly smaller area than the Kalleq and accordingly with the Akiak you paddle with even less effort.
The Akiak has protectors to protect against hitting rocks or bouncing off the shore when entering the surf. The protectors can be replaced.
When you use a Greenland paddle, you are more gentle on tendons and muscles and put less effort into each stroke.
The optimal length of the paddle is determined by measuring the distance from the ground to your bent fingers, which seem to be holding the paddle, on your arm extended above your head. If the paddle you choose is longer, it is OK. With this type of paddle, you usually paddle with a low angle, but paddling with a high angle is also possible.
